How to Add a File to a Discussion Board Post

Your instructor may ask you to share a file in a discussion post. There are two methods of sharing a file in discussion board posts.
How you attach your file will determine the look and feel of your post:

Method 1: Embed the file in your post.

1. Follow your instructor's directions and navigate to the post you need to reply to, or create a new post.
2. Write out your response in a word processor, and then paste it into the text editor.
3. Click on the area within the message where you would like to embed the file.
4. Click on the "Attachments" icon (paperclip) in the toolbar.

5. Click on "Browse My Computer" to locate and select the file you would like to attach.

6. Click "Submit" to embed the file in your post.

7. Click "Submit" to post your work.

Method 2: Attach the file to the post, but do not embed it in the text.

1. Follow your instructor's directions and navigate to the post you need to reply to, or create a new post.
2. Write out your response in a word processor, and then paste it into the text editor.
3. Click on "Browse My Computer" to locate and select the file you would like to attach.

4. Click "Submit" to attach the file and post your work to the discussion board.
